How well prepared are you really? If you had to, could you survive off your preps for one month? Let’s find out.
Here’s the challenge: for the entire month of June, buy nothing, or at least as little as possible. June is a good month for for this, because:
No worries about winter storms
We’re out of the spring tornado/hurricane season
Wildfire season… well, never really ends, but it’s not as bad as it’ll be later in the summer
It’s growing season, so you can take advantage of those gardens
Instead of going to the store, try to live off of your:
Pantry
Freezer
Garden beds
Farm animals (if you have any)
This is also a great opportunity to use up old stock before it expires.
Realistically, I know most of us will end up in a store, even if you take the challenge seriously. So try to follow these guidelines:
Buy as little as possible. Only the basics.
Write down what you buy. Whether it seems silly or not, these are the things you apparently cannot live without, and so you should stock up on in July.
Shop as locally as you can to localize your food chain. Individual farmers over stores, mom and pop shops over big chains. This is golden season for farm stand and farmers markets. Time to work on those dependency loops!
Good luck, and tell us how it goes! Drop a comment here or pop into our Discord server.
