Gasoline and diesel prices are higher than they’ve ever been, and they continue to increase. On the morning of 17 May 2022, the national average price of gasoline was $4.51 and the average price of diesel was $5.56. We warned you about this back in February in “How to Prepare for a Russian Invasion of Ukraine.”

Lousy morning? National average price of gasoline now $4.51/gal, while diesel edged higher to $5.56/gal, both new record highs.

But that’s not the worst of it. Diesel supplies on the East Coast are the lowest they’ve been in decades and industry insiders are warning of a diesel shortage this summer, which could lead to rationing. Even if you don’t use diesel, many machines you rely upon do, like semi-trucks and farm equipment. Just about everything you consume depends on diesel, like gasoline, which is brought to the gas station in diesel tankers.
