I don’t know if you stayed up all night or you’re just getting the news now, but Putin has declared war on Ukraine, and directly threatened the United States while doing so. Today is going to be crazy. I have one simple instruction for you today: don’t panic.
All the stuff I told you about preparing for this scenario? I think it’s all good advice and I stand by it, but today isn’t the day to be filling your shopping cart with 50-pound bags of rice and topping off every available gas can. Because that’s what everyone else is going to be doing, and it’s going to be crazy. Besides, oil already broke $100 a barrel.
The reason we prepare is so we’re not the ones panic-buying when the chips are down. If you’re already a prepper, maybe you feel a sense of smug satisfaction this morning. Congrats, I guess. If you’re new to this, welcome to the party, pal.
If you’re not already stocked up, the best thing to do right now is to wait. Get the gas and food you need, but no more. Take the other advice in my Ukrainian invasion guide, sit at home and maybe order some radiation pills, or better yet, just reassure your family, kiss your children, and if the weather is right, spend some time in the sun. It’s still there and it ain’t going away.
Wait for things to calm down. They will after a few days. Then take the opportunity to get serious about your preps. You’re gonna need them in the days to come. We’ll be here to help. In the meantime, please share this message far and wide.
