I predicted an interesting week, and I was once again correct. On Tuesday, authorities moved in to arrest President Donald Trump. He didn’t go easily. First, he made a break for it down Fifth Avenue.
Soon, Trump partnered up with loyal Trump partisans in the NYPD.
After a bloody six-hour shootout that cost the lives of over 100 law enforcement officials, President Trump was finally brought to justice.
It took 30 men to take Trump into custody and large parts of New York City were shut down for the day.
And, for good measure, they also arrested President Bush.
And Nancy Pelosi.
Of course, none of this happened. These photos were generated using artificial intelligence like Midjourney or Stable Diffusion.
We’re entering the AI era, where you will never know what’s real unless you see it in the flesh.
In fact, AI is already at the point where it can resurrect the dead.
Imagine what scammers are going to do with this technology. You may get a phone call from your significant other or family member, telling you that they’re in trouble and that you need to send them money right away, only for them to come home a couple of hours later not having a clue what you’re talking about.
It will soon be trivially easy to pull off this kind of scam. You probably already get random phone calls where you say “hello” repeatedly only to never hear an answer. Who’s to say your voice hasn’t already been sampled to be replicated by an AI?
It’s no longer a Philip K. Dick meth-fueled sci-fi fever dream, this is reality.
AI is going to radically change our world and fast, but there is actually a free and simple way to guard against this type of scam: create a safe word for your family. Something simple, and unique, but memorable and don’t share it outside of your circle.
When you get an urgent call or an odd request from someone in your circle, insist on the safe word before taking any action.
I got this idea from my friend Jon Stokes, who regularly writes about our weird AI future. Check out his Substack if that’s your thing.
