But I don't think there's anything we can do besides keep on keepin' on, continuously making marginal improvements to our level of independence, while nonetheless accepting that we will always rely on others including The System. Humans are pack animals — hive animals, even. That just is what it is.

Well, I agree. I’m depressed and worried too. I bought The Benedict Option several years ago, and also never finished it. I was so worried that I once again considered getting hens. I got really upset doing the chicken math, 4 sq ft per bird of coop, seven for run. Every article said close to the same, but then their links to chicken coops said For 6 chickens! 12 chickens! But the chicken math was for only two, max. All made in China. Reviews said Flimsy! Cold! Raccoons can just walk in! Dig up through the floor! Figure out the combination lock themselves! I would melt down having hens outside in negative five or a hundred and five weather.
