It's worth verifying this, since (I've found) they don't always have the battery pack wiring kit installed and of course might simply have dead batteries.
Mine doesn't require electricity at all, but it has a battery-powered box that enables the remote control function. I should add that it's important to change out those batteries at the start of every season. I've found they decay pretty fast since they're so close to intense heat.
